Meanwhile, those on a quest for adventure can take a 45 minute flight from Kathmandu to the STOL airstrip at Lukla, where they can pick up an organised trek to Everest Base Camp. While the ascent’s not easy, these days more than 35,000 people trek in the region each year, allowing them to experience the breath-taking scenery and the unique Sherpa culture. Alternatively, if you don’t fancy trekking, you can view The Himalayas from the classic viewpoint at Nagarkot, just outside Katmandu.
